The Low Cinema, co-founded by filmmaker John Wilson, opened in May in Ridgewood. The historic, long-defunct Metro Theater on Manhattan's Upper West Side was recently purchased by a nonprofit led by film producer Ira Deutchman and programmer Adeline Monzier, with plans in the works to renovate and reopen it.
